Minister Stacy L. Smith brings joy and excitement to learning & living the Word of God. A natural-born leader, she uses her gifts of encouragement, administration, and teaching to motivate people and organizations to maximize their unique strengths.
The daughter of Mrs. Lenora "Lenny" Wilson and the late Rev. Dr. James H. Wilson, Jr., Min. Smith first spoke at New Bethel Baptist Church for College & Military Day in December 1991. Her sermon title was “Too Legit to Quit.” Since then, she has not quit – even while living overseas for almost a decade with her husband and two sons.
While living in Denmark, she started and taught a weekly Women’s Bible Study, served as Vacation Bible School teacher and Sunday School Director. In summer 1994, she and her husband spearheaded the first USA tour of a local Danish gospel choir, “Kefas,” in which her husband played drums (https://www.facebook.com/KEFASGospelChoir/).
While living in Switzerland, Min. Smith served in the church and community. She was a Sunday school teacher and Scout Leader. She led monthly after school activities for children and started a Scrapbook Club. In December 1998, God led Min. Smith and others to plant an English-speaking church in the Swiss capital of Bern – a predominantly German speaking city. By April 2001, the church became an official organization according to Swiss law (http://riverlife.ch/).
In December 2000, while living in England and serving as the Religious Education Director, Min. Smith created LIFT (Ladies in Fellowship Together) – a ministry focusing on the spiritual needs of women. She also taught Sunday school, coordinated the Children’s Ministry, organized Vacation Bible School and taught at the local Department of Defense school.
In 2002, Min. Smith and her family returned to the United States where she works and serves as the Connections Minister at New Bethel Church DC. In her spare time, she teaches a literacy-based art program, called SMART Cart™ (Students Mixing Art & Reading Together) and is a Co-Founder (with her mother) of The Wonder House Unlimited – a family owned & operated puppet & performing arts ministry since 1994 (http://wonderhouseunlimited.weebly.com/).. She's also a ministry partner at Barnabas House of Encouragement (http://barnabashousegrace.com/) and #FitnessWithFreQuenCy.
Formerly a middle school/high school teacher, Min. Smith has a passion for women and children. With over 20 years’ experience serving children & families, she takes her experience “on the road” as a sought after conference speaker and Storyboard Specialist™ :) Licensed to preach in January 2006, this former Maryland Terrapin is now working on her Masters in Theology & Leadership at Denver Seminary. Her desire is to make an impact and to leave an imprint!
